Nicor Gas Receives Award for Supporting Firefighter Training

NAPERVILLE, IL – Nicor Gas announced today that it received an Appreciation Award for its continued support of and recent $20,000 contribution to the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI), which serves firefighters throughout Illinois and the world and aims to help firefighters do their work through training, education, information and research.
“This week is National Burn Awareness Week, and receiving this important award couldn’t be timelier,” said Beth Reese, president of Nicor Gas. “We share in the vision and mission of IFSI with safety being the foundation and cornerstone of our business. We value this partnership and look forward to building upon it in the future.”
Nicor Gas has a longstanding commitment to supporting Illinois firefighters and partners with local fire departments to help ensure the safety of its customers in the more than 650 communities it serves. Nicor Gas’ support of IFSI helps to prepare first responders for fires, natural gas emergencies and other crisis situations.
