Nicor Gas' Workforce Development grows awareness of the energy industry and potential careers through educator camps and forums, educator externships and career events. As the largest natural gas distributor in the state, we are proud to play a significant role in the communities where we live, work and raise our families.

Students with a talent and interest in math and science might enjoy a career in the energy industry. Discover new and informative ways to address math and science standards, and learn more about how to best guide students who show an interest in the energy industry.

Career Academy

The Nicor Gas Career Academy is a program sponsored by Nicor Gas, IBEW Local 19, Quad County Urban League, NPL, INTREN, KS Energy Services, and Pipe Stron. The 6-week, free job readiness program prepares participants for careers in the utility industry.

When Does it Start?
July 5th, 2021 through August 13th, 2022

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Score at least a 12th-grade level in math & reading on the Tests of Adult Basic Education
  • Pass an extensive criminal background check and drug test
  • Group-style interview
  • Valid driver's license
  • Apply by July 1, 2022
