Giving Tuesday: Helping the Northern Illinois Food Bank solve hunger

We share in the Northern Illinois Food Bank's vision for everyone in Northern Illinois to have the nutritious food and resources they need to thrive - and that every family is deserving of dignity, equity, and convenience when it comes to getting the meals they need. Through partners and innovation, this amazing organization provides 250,000 meals every day to local communities.

So, we couldn't help but expand on our partnership to make sure everyone can break bread and share good cheer together around the dining room table. In addition to the $25,000 donation made earlier this year, we're matching pledges up to $10k in advance of the food bank's annual Giving Tuesday pledge drive. Altogether, this supports about 4,000 families with meals. It takes about 1,000 weekly volunteers to sort, pack and distribute food, and Nicor Gas employees and their families are thrilled to be a part of this cause.
