Employee Volunteerism

Volunteering is at the heart of Nicor Gas’ community programs.

For over 20 years, Nicor Gas has had a formal program, with strong management support. Our volunteers have helped beautify homes, shelters and nature centers, construct homes, sort food and prepare care kits for our neighbors in need. Nicor Gas employees are inextricably woven into the communities we are privileged to serve. We maintain local offices across our service territory to ensure we deliver an exceptional customer experience. We are committed to making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve and believe in giving back to the community.

Annual Volunteer Week in May

Every year, hundreds of Nicor Gas employees, their families and friends volunteer in their local communities as part of Nicor Gas’ Volunteer Week. What was once a one-day effort that occurred on the third Saturday of May, now encompasses an entire week of activities to benefit the communities served by Nicor Gas.

Warm Homes, Warm Hearts

Nicor Gas has made a two-year commitment to Habitat for Humanity. During this time, Nicor Gas team members will lend their energy and talents to help build new homes for families in need in coordination with the Fox Valley and DuPage Habitat for Humanity affiliates. In 2018, more than 150 employees will have volunteered 624 hours at 13 Habitat for Humanity builds.
