Rate 4 is appropriate for commercial and industrial customers ranging from small users to those with annual use less than 800,000 therms. Rate 4 customers purchase all natural gas supplies from Nicor Gas.
The customer profile for Rate 74 is the same as Rate 4, however, customers arrange for purchases from another source and contract with Nicor Gas for varying storage and firm backup options. Rate 74 is one of our "unbundled" rates because customers can select storage and backup levels.
Rate 5 is appropriate for commercial and industrial customers with annual use less than 700,000 therms and with winter period use totaling no more than 5 percent of annual usage. Rate 5 customers purchase all natural gas supplies form Nicor Gas.
The customer profile is the same as Rate 5, however, customers arrange for purchases from another source and contract with Nicor Gas for varying storage and firm backup options. Rate 75 is one of our "unbundled" rates because customers can select storage and backup levels.
Rate 6 is economical for large commercial and industrial customers with annual loads greater than 800,000 therms and high load factors. This rate has a minimum monthly bill of $3,500, excluding gas costs. Customers purchase all natural gas supplies from Nicor Gas.
Industrial customers with a monthly use greater than 800,000 therms may find this rate most economical. Rate 7 has a minimum monthly bill of $8,900, excluding gas costs, and is dependent on load factor. A detailed analysis by the customer's account executive can determine whether Rate 6 or 7 is more appropriate
The customer profiles are the same when adding Rider 25, however, these customers arrange for purchases from another source and contract with Nicor Gas for storage and 100 percent backup service.
Nicor Gas has its Rates and Riders on file with the Illinois Commerce Commission (I.C.C.) and they are also listed in our Schedule of Rates for Gas Service (I.C.C. No. 16) – also called our Rate Book. A number of Riders on file with the I.C.C. are updated monthly, including Rider 6 – the Gas Supply Cost (GSC). Gas Supply Charge - Cost per Therm
In February, the Illinois Commerce Commission approved Rider 34, Supplier Firm Transportation Service. This rider allows suppliers to form groups of up to 150 Rider 25 customers that are not commonly-owned, similar to the provisions of Rider 13 for Rate 74, 75, 76, and 77 accounts. However, customers in the group would still be cycle (meter) read once a month and not daily balanced. Under the rider, the supplier would have a monthly group charge and assume the responsibility (costs) for purchasing any company-supplied gas, Excess Storage charges, any applicable OFO provisions etc., plus any applicable taxes. Rider 34 is completely optional. Rider 25 as it exists today will still be available for individual customers and commonly-owned groups. Nicor Gas’ tariff Rider 34 can be accessed in the company’s rate book.
During the implementation, there will be three phases outlined below. Please note the contract deadlines.
Contracts will also be accepted after June 30, 2017 and will be processed accordingly with start dates as soon as possible thereafter.
To enroll in Rider 34, please submit the following contract forms.
Once the paperwork is received, Nicor Gas will begin the process to set up the customer accounts into groups. The Group Manager will receive an email notification that the paperwork has been received, the deposit amount will be calculated and communicated to the supplier, and the determination of the meter cycle date will be decided by Nicor Gas for each group.
The executed contract will be returned to the Group Manager with the group start date once the entire process is completed.
If you need to add or delete accounts to an already formed Rider 34 group, please submit the form below.
Nicor Gas requires adequate assurance of payment from the Group Manger prior to the start of service under Rider 34. If you are requesting to begin service in July, your deposit is due to Nicor Gas by June 15, 2017. If you are requesting to begin service in August, your deposit is due to Nicor Gas by July 15, 2017. If you are requesting to begin service in September, your deposit is due to Nicor Gas by August 15, 2017. In the event that Nicor Gas does not receive the adequate assurance of payment by the above mentioned deadlines, your start date may be delayed.
If you would like to request to utilize a parental guaranty in lieu of a cash deposit or a letter of credit, please put your request in writing. The information listed below is required with the request. Please provide information for the parent company and subsidiary, where appropriate. Nicor Gas may request additional information as it evaluates the granting of a parental guaranty.
A bill insert will be included in the June 2017 invoices advising all Nicor Gas Rider 25 customers of the program and the possibility of a meter read and billing date change if they are enrolled in the program by their supplier. Please be aware that, as part of the insert, Nicor Gas will advise the customer to contact their supplier if they have questions about getting enrolled in the program.
If you have any questions about the Rider 34 program, please contact the Nicor Gas Transportation department by phone at 630.983.4040 option #1 or by email at GTQA@southernco.com.
