When Bryan Johnson opened Johnson Service Center in 2016, he set out to provide dependable automotive service to the community where he was born and raised. What began in a facility at the former Penberthy Factory in Prophetstown has grown into a new, purpose-built shop designed to serve customers for years to come.

In 2022, Johnson Service Center opened a newly constructed 2,500-square-foot facility at 607 Grove St. in Prophetstown, creating a modern space where Bryan and his team can continue providing automotive services for cars, light trucks, SUVs and ATVs. The business currently employs two people and serves customers throughout the local area.

As part of the transition to the new building, Bryan chose to convert from propane to natural gas. The decision was driven by the reliability and cost-saving benefits that natural gas could provide for the growing business. Today, natural gas supports the facility's forced-air heating system and helps the shop operate efficiently throughout the year.

While navigating the new-service process initially presented some challenges, Bryan said the experience improved once he connected with the right Nicor Gas representatives. The company's support helped ensure the new facility had the energy infrastructure needed to support operations.

"Nicor Gas was very friendly, helpful and thorough when assisting me with my new service request," Bryan said.

For Bryan, the investment in a new facility represents more than business growth. It is an investment in the community he calls home. By providing local automotive services and supporting economic activity in Prophetstown, Johnson Service Center continues to play an important role in the area's small-business community.
