Nicor Gas’ Community Impact Report highlights $5.7M donations made to 348 Illinois nonprofits

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – June 23, 2025 – Nicor Gas’ 2024 Community Impact Report details the company's $5.7 million in contributions to support community welfare and development through charitable giving and volunteerism. The company concentrates its efforts on three strategic areas: supporting basic needs, protecting the environment and enabling economic opportunity.

In 2021, Nicor Gas set three strategic objectives to direct its corporate responsibility initiatives. The annual Community Impact report outlines the company's advancements in achieving these goals.

Support Basic Needs - Recognizing the importance of access to clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy as a fundamental necessity, Nicor Gas seeks to extend this commitment by addressing other essential needs of its customers. Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations such as Greater Chicago Food Depository and Housing Forward, the company has facilitated the delivery of 7.8 million meals and 411,000 nights of shelter.

Protect the Environment - Nicor Gas is committed to environmental stewardship and has a goal to sustain 10,000 acres of open space in Northern Illinois. Support to organizations like Brookfield Zoo and Field Museum of Natural History helps offer equitable access to cultural, educational and recreational places.

Enable Economic Opportunity - Central to Nicor Gas' mission is the ambition to invigorate Illinois' economy. The company has formed strategic partnerships with organizations like Chicago United and continuously invests in underserved communities through the Nicor Illinois Community Investment.
