Nicor Gas employees commit more than 600 service hours during company’s Volunteer Week

NAPERVILLE, IL – May 25, 2023 – For nearly three decades, Nicor Gas employees and their families have rolled up their sleeves to donate their time and resources during their annual Volunteer Week every May. This year, employees donated more than 600 hours of service at nearly a dozen projects across Northern and Central Illinois.

“At Nicor Gas, we are committed to giving our time, skills and resources to the more than 650 communities we serve every day,” said Wendell Dallas, president and CEO of Nicor Gas. “I am so proud to be part of a selfless and dedicated team who shows their ‘energy to serve’ not just during Volunteer Week, but throughout the year to ensure our customers have access to the most basic and essential needs when they need it most.”

This Volunteer Week, employees and their families gave their energy to serve in just a few of the following ways:

• Packed 500 care kits and snack packs for communities in need in partnership with the United Way of Metro Chicago.
• Packed 980 food boxes that will provide nearly 20,000 meals to families in need at the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
• Sorted food donations that will feed nearly 300 families through the Northern Illinois Food Bank in Joliet.
• Removed 47 bags of trash from the McDowell Grove Forest Preserve as part of the DuPage County River Sweep.
• Painted a community center to be used by victims of domestic and sexual violence at Mutual Ground in Aurora.
• Assisted with construction of a home for a veteran family in need through Will County Habitat for Humanity.
