Nicor Gas volunteers dedicate over 600 hours to community service during annual volunteer week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – June 14, 2024 – During Nicor Gas’ 28th annual Volunteer Week, 219 volunteers engaged in 17 service projects throughout the company’s Northern Illinois service territory, totaling 670 hours. Employees, along with friends and family, join in the company’s annual Volunteer Week each May to lend their time and talents to organizations in many of the communities where they live and work.

This Volunteer Week, employees and their families donated their time and energy to serve in a few of the following ways:

  • 1,000 snack packs packed for communities in need in partnership with the United Way of Metro Chicago
  • Over 40,000 pounds of food sorted and packaged at the Northern Illinois Food Bank and the Greater Chiago Food Depository
  • 10 trees planted at Memorial Park in LaGrange Park with Chicago Regional Trees Initiative
  • 132 lunches served at the DuPage PADS Interim Housing Center

In the last five years, Nicor Gas employees have donated more than 3,000 volunteer hours to nonprofit organizations that support basic needs including food and housing insecurity and contribute to the conservation of open land the community across the company’s Northern Illinois service territory.
