Nicor Gas recognizes graduates of Novice Workforce Training and Employment Program

NAPERVILLE, Ill.  – Nov. 14, 2024 - The Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program marks the graduation of the second cohort from its Skilled Workforce Training and Employment Program. The workforce development initiative is designed to help those currently working in the weatherization industry elevate their energy efficiency knowledge, increase their earning potential and expand their technical skills.

This year, six participants from the Chicagoland area acquired skills to boost their business potential through three weeks of classes and on-the-job training. Participants earned their Building Performance Institute and Building-Analyst Technician certifications, which are essential to maximizing earning possibilities in the energy efficiency industry.

“We want to provide these graduates with the skills they need, but we also want them to know that we are here to support their efforts beyond graduation,” said Kelly Lena, director of Energy Efficiency Services at Nicor Gas. “These graduates have earned the certifications that are critical to being successful in the industry and we can’t wait to see how their careers progress.”

The Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program is dedicated to growing the workforce in the energy and efficiency spaces to further serve customers across Northern Illinois. The Workforce Training and Employment Program is one of several free offerings available to individuals who reside or work within Nicor Gas’ service territory and are interested in growing their careers.
