Rebates

High-efficiency products use less energy and can save you money. Rebates for energy efficiency upgrades are available to all current residential Nicor Gas customers, and participation is simple.

Steps to receive your rebate

1. Work with a contractor. All products must be installed by a professional contractor unless noted. Air sealing, insulation and duct sealing work must be completed by approved contractors. Find a contractor near you from our network of Contractor Circle members with our easy-to-use Find a Contractor tool.

2. Install new, qualifying products between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021.

3. Apply within 90 days of installation or by January 31, 2022, whichever comes first, to receive the following rebates.

Rebates For Equipment

Furnaces - $200 - $225

Rebates For Air Sealing and Insulation

Air sealing, insulation and duct sealing work must be performed by an approved contractor to be eligible for a rebate. The maximum rebate per project is $400. Find a Contractor >

Air Sealing - Up to $400 per home

Air Sealing - $0.40 per CFM50 reduction, up to $400 per home

Attic Insulation - Up to $300 per home

Attic Insulation - $0.30 per sq. ft., up to $300 per home

Additional qualifications

  • Attic air sealing must be completed to BPI standards to qualify for an attic insulation rebate.
  • A home’s existing attic insulation may not exceed R14 (roughly 6 inches).
  • Rebates are not available if the precondition is >R14.

Duct Sealing - Up to $400 per home

Duct Sealing - $2 per CFM25 reduction, up to $400 per home

Additional qualifications

  • A minimum of 50 percent of the ducts must be located in an unconditioned space, or 70 percent of the ducts must be located in semi-conditioned space.
  • Duct sealing can be completed as a standalone project.

Wall Insulation - Up to $400 per home

Exterior Wall Insulation - $0.50 per sq. ft., up to $400 per home

Additional qualifications

  • Wall insulation areas include exterior walls, knee walls and skylights.
  • Wall insulation is not available as a stand-alone rebate. To be eligible for a rebate, one of the following must be met:
    • The project includes qualifying air sealing.
    • Air sealing and attic insulation has been previously completed through the Nicor Gas weatherization offering and no major renovation has been undertaken since that time.
  • A home’s existing wall insulation may not exceed R5.
  • Rebates are not available if the precondition is greater R5.
  • Walls must then be insulated to at least R13, or in compliance with state or local code, whichever is higher.

Foundation Sidewall Insulation - $0.50 per sq. ft., up to $400 per home

Additional qualifications

  • Foundation insulation areas include foundation sidewalls.
  • Wall insulation is not available as a stand-alone rebate. To be eligible for a rebate, one of the following must be met:
    • The project includes qualifying air sealing.
    • Air sealing and attic insulation has been previously completed through the Nicor Gas weatherization offering and no major renovation has been undertaken since that time.
  • A home’s existing wall insulation may not exceed R5.
  • Rebates are not available if the precondition is greater R5.
  • Walls must then be insulated to at least R13, or in compliance with state or local code, whichever is higher.
