The holiday spirit has bitten us all, and we’re eager to spread joy and gratitude. Throughout the season, Nicor Gas and its employees have been taking action to spread some holiday cheer and provide critical support to communities across northern Illinois.
Upcoming Community Programs and Events
Operation Warm
With the temperatures falling, it’s a tough reality for many children that a warm winter coat is a luxury their families cannot afford. Through donations from the Southern Company Gas Foundation and Nicor Gas, Operation Warm will deliver 1,700 brand new winter coats to children in Title I schools this winter.
Holiday Food Boxes
Everyone should break bread and share cheer around the dining table this holiday season. We're helping the Salvation Army with $25,000 to pack enough food boxes for as many as 3,124 individuals. Distribution runs through 12/22. Call your local Salvation Army office for more information.
Season of Giving Back
We donated a $35,000 grant to the Northern Illinois Food Bank for Giving Tuesday to feed 4,000 families this season. We hope you'll join us in supporting this incredible organization.
Nicor Gas employees teamed up with food surplus recovery logistics company Goodr to host three mobile food pantries in food deserts in our service area.
Shield of Caring is an emergency assistance and homelessness prevention program that provides individuals and families with natural gas bill payment assistance and support for basic needs, including housing, rental and grocery assistance and packages.
