Nicor Gas’ Volunteer Week: May 12-19

Largest volunteer effort to date supports 20 different organizations at 28 events throughout the week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – May 10, 2018 – Hundreds of Nicor Gas employees, their families and friends will volunteer in their local communities as part of Nicor Gas’ Volunteer Week: May 12-19 – the largest effort to date in the 22 consecutive years employees have come together to serve.

Twenty-eight service projects with 20 different organizations will be complete throughout the week, from clean up and planting at a nature center in Palos Heights to food sorting in Yorkville, and painting and landscaping at family services center in Dekalb, and many events in-between including Bellwood, Glen Ellyn, Des Plaines and Naperville.

Since 1996, the Nicor Gas’ Volunteer Day occurred the third Saturday in the month of May. This year’s efforts encompass an entire week of activities to benefit the communities served by Nicor Gas.

“Volunteer Day is one of the traditions we are most proud of, and this year I am excited to see the efforts expand to a week’s work of service,” said Melvin D. Williams, president of Nicor Gas. “As a company, we want to be judged not only by the service we provide, but also for what we do to improve the quality of life for all people in the places where we live and work. We hope that our pledge to volunteerism inspires others to make the same commitment, not just on one day or week, but throughout the year.”
