Nicor Gas, local fire departments team up to promote natural gas safety

The public education program is now in its 16th year and coincides with National Fire Prevention Week.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Sept. 29, 2021 – Nicor Gas is committed to the safety of every customer and community it serves and will partner with local fire departments across its northern Illinois service territory for an annual public education program. This year marks the 16th year for the natural gas safety awareness campaign that will run through the end of October, coinciding with National Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 3-9). 

Nicor Gas volunteers will share important information and resources to help families know how to respond in the unlikely event of a natural gas emergency. Even the youngest of attendees can learn safety tips through this interactive demonstration.

  • Naperville Fire Department: 1380 Aurora Ave., Naperville, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 30

  • Broadview Fire Department: 2400 25th Ave., Broadview, 5-8 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 2

  • Bartlett Fire Protection District: 234 N. Oak Ave., Bartlett, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Lockport Township Fire Protection District: 19623 Renwick Road, Lockport, noon to 4 p.m.

  • Schaumburg Fire Department: 950 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Westmont Fire Department: 6015 S. Cass Ave., Westmont, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
