Nicor Gas opens applications for basic human needs and energy assistance grants

Company provides support to programs that promote stability and wellness in the community

NAPERVILLE, IL. – June 1, 2022 – Expanding on its commitment to support critical needs across its service territory, Nicor Gas is announcing $100,000 in funding to support basic human needs and energy assistance programming. 

Starting today, organizations and nonprofits may apply for these assistance grants from Nicor Gas to support their initiatives that provide food, shelter, clothing and disaster relief to the community. Applications are available at www.NicorGas.com/CharitableGiving through August 31 with funding decisions by September 30. Selected nonprofits and community organizations will be eligible to receive up to $5,000 in grant funds this year. 

The company is committed to providing relief to customers in need of extra assistance with their monthly natural gas bill, as well as the most basic needs to live and thrive.

Last year, the company provided grant support to: 

• Rock River Valley Pantry – Supported the organization’s “Got Milk 4 Kids” program and the senior milk program in support of their mission to fight hunger in the community by providing nutritious foods to those in urgent need. 

• People’s Resource Center – Supported an emergency services program that provides basic necessities including clothing, food and housing assistance to those in need.
