Nicor Gas provides more than $1.2 million in United Way grants in 2022
Company and employee donations benefit community partners throughout Northern Illinois
NAPERVILLE, IL. – January 4, 2023 – Nicor Gas, a top 25 corporate partner of United Way of Metro Chicago, and its employees have contributed more than $1.2 million to United Way chapters across its service territory. This funding is allocated to local affiliates, nonprofit partners and organizations in underserved communities to support food and energy insecurity, healthcare, education and housing initiatives for customers throughout the Nicor Gas footprint.
“Our partnership with United Way has continued for more than six decades, and from the beginning we shared a mutual interest of advancing the well-being and common good in the more than 650 communities we are proud to serve,” said Wendell Dallas, president and CEO of Nicor Gas, who also serves as a board member and 2022-2023 campaign chair for United Way of Metro Chicago. “As the largest natural gas provider in Illinois, it is our responsibility to do all we can to improve the lives of our customers and their families who need and rely on it most.”
The 2022 United Way contributions include employee donations of more than $225,000 and more than $1 million directly from Nicor Gas and the Nicor Gas Foundation. These grants will be spread across the 23 United Way chapters located in Nicor Gas’ Northern Illinois service area, with the largest being United Way of Metro Chicago.
