Nicor Gas Partners with Local Fire Departments to Promote Natural Gas Safety

More than 50 events will be held throughout September, October coinciding with National Fire Prevention Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Sept. 20, 2018 – Ensuring the safety of every family Nicor Gas serves is the company’s highest priority. In an effort to increase awareness of natural gas safety, Nicor Gas is partnering with local fire departments in 53 communities across its northern Illinois service territory. The annual public education program, now in its 13th year, will run through the end of October and coincides with National Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 7-13).

Nicor Gas volunteers will share important tips and tools to ensure families know what to do in the unlikely event of a natural gas emergency. The booth is interactive, so even the youngest of attendees can learn safety tips. Participants can also learn more about the Nicor Gas energySMART program, as well as other energy assistance programs.
